Biópolis is a private company formed in 2003 as a spin-off of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain, along with three industrial partners: CAPSA (Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta S.A), the venture capital group Talde and Naturex España S.A., an innovative company which offers high added value R&D products and services.
It is a company geared towards meeting its clients’ needs and desires by offering them innovative solutions through the development and production of microorganisms and metabolites which contribute to achieving better foods, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and chemical processes.
The profile of companies investing in Biópolis is that of a group of investors, including CAPSA, with a long-term vision, aware of and committed to the value of scientific excellence as a tool to sell products with high added value.
Located in the Parc Cientific of the University of Valencia, the company has a staff of 36 experts working in 1,500 m2 of laboratory space. Biópolis closed its last year with billings of nearly EUR 4 million. It is currently undertaking 35 projects with clients throughout the world.
